LOS ANGELES, California - Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has filed for divorce from her husband Pete Wentz, spokeswoman for the couple confirmed to Access Hollywood.
"After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to divorce, a couple said a joint statement issued spokesperon, Access. "We're still friends, and deeply committed and loving parents, our son in the Bronx, whose happiness and welfare is our number one priority. We ask everyone to respect the privacy that we move to this next phase of our lives."
According to TMZ, who first reported the split Ashlee filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the division of her rocker boyfriend.
The couple began dating in 2006 and married in May 2008.
