After repeated clashes with star point guard Deron Williams and think that the property had become weakened, Jerry Sloan resigned from the Utah Jazz head coach after 23 seasons, league sources said.
Sloan, 68, agreed a contract extension a year ago, but his biggest frustration was released after a long meeting with Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor, after the loss of team to the Bulls in Salt Lake City.
Sloan, the NBA’s longest tenured coach, and his long assistant, Phil Johnson, resigned Thursday together. Jazz scheduled a news conference 17 hours to officially announce ET.
Sloan Williams, the relationship had grown progressively worse during the period of the league sources said, and the coach was tired of dealing with the best player on the team. Frustration escalated on Wednesday night, when Sloan and Williams clashed in the dressing room range.
